Good from Base

Our «Quality Pyramid» is based on the fact, that quality depends on it's origin. Our products also follow this classification:

...are the base for the heritage related quality system of VDP. The wines come from sites belonging to the estate and fit VDP quality standards.

... come from the best sites in one village and are planted with varieties typical for the region. The dry VDP.Ortswein (VDP.Village Wine) is marked as «Quality wine dry». VDP.Ortsweine with residual sugar carry the typical Predicates like Kabinett, Spätlese and so on.

... are high quality sites with their very own character, with perfect growing conditions, and high quality wines over years. They are planted with regionally fixed grapes. Dry wine from «VDP.Erste Lage» is qualitfied as «Quality wine dry». Wines with residual sugar carry the typical predicates like Kabinett, Spätlese, Auslese, Beerenauslese, Trockenbeerenauslese or Eiswein.

... defines vine from the German sites with the highest quality. The best wines with expressive character of the site and best aging potential are growing here. They are planted with regionally fixed varieties, and soil matching vines. Dry wines from «VDP.Grosse Lage» carry the name «VDP.Grosses Gewächs» and «Quality wine dry». Wines with residual sugar have the typical predicates.

... yet an other specialty of «Oekonomierat Rebholz»:

Our  »R«-line carries wines and sparkling wines from highest quality grapes, which are fermented in wooden barrels (Barriques).

This is why  »R«-line wines aren't traditional German wines, but belong to more international style. That's also the reason why it isn't easy to fit them into German quality system.

We started our  »R«-line in 1989. Since then value of those wines grow steadily. The following wines belong to the line:

Chardonnay, πNO.®, Spätburgunder, Sekt πNO.® and the residual sugar wine »Zeit & Geduld«
